Milk. . .Does a Body Good???

Poor Taylor is allergic to milk and eggs!!! We took her in for allergy testing yesterday and she had pretty bad reactions to milk, eggs, and cat. She has been having reactions to a lot of different things since she was born and we haven't been able to figure it out. She has really sensitive skin to begin with. She breaks out in rashes and hives daily because her skin has touched something weird. Over the last month as she has been tasting regular foods a little bit she has been having worse reactions. She has a reaction to most baby formulas. Finally the last straw was trying little bits of cheese and breaking out in hives when it touched her skin. And then she tried a few bites of yogurt and threw up 15 minutes later. Poor Baby! She is such a sweet little thing. She was so good at the testing. She was just smiling and laughing and so happy the whole time. She went very still and just laid her head down on Dave's shoulder when they were pricking her. Hopefully she will grow out of it. Until then, I have to learn how to cook without eggs and milk. I have been doing my research, but any tips and suggestions would be awesome!

That is so sad! Poor thing! At least you found out now though and I've heard that most do grow out of it. I don't know much about recipes, but you should really talk to Susan Ross. Matthew was allergic to those when he was young too! I remember, cause I used to babysit them and she always seemed to be making excellent things that didn't have eggs in them.
I'm sorry again! If there is anything I can do, please let me know! Can she do soy formulas??

Oh, and that picture of Taylor and Dave is so sweet! You've got such a cute family and such a great husband! Where do I find myself one of those???

Oh, that is so sad. I hate seeing her poor little back all pricked and red.

It horrified me to hear she breaks out in hives just by touching the cheese. How awful (for her and you!).

I don't think Noah is allergic to milk but he doesn't seem to digest it well at all. I switched him to Soy milk. The Very Vanilla Silk has added calcium so my Ped says it's good for kids. That's all Noah drinks now. He has also done the Soy Formula. I mixed the concentrated stuff in with the Soy Milk so it tastes better but he still gets the calories and nutrition.

Sorry for my novel. I just hope you can figure out what she can eat without breaking out. Good luck!

Hyrum is only our first and he is allergic to peanuts and milk! I still can't believe that my children is allergic to two things I love!

Aw... Taylor is way too cute to get poked so many times.

There are lots of great options for you. I won't list them all here. Rice milk and almond milk are super yummy and fortified just like cow's milk. I have a simple recipe for brown rice milk. I happen to like other nut and grain milks almost more than cow's milk.

I will send an email to my Dave and have him forward it to your Dave. Good luck!! We sure love you guys and think you're great.

Emme is allergic to milk and eggs too. She is 3 now and I have her drink Lactaid, but she use to drink silk. And finally she can eat stuff with egg baked in it. She is also allergic to peanuts. Allergies stink, I have tried 3 dr's. and I like Dr.Taylor in Riverton the best, he was pretty normal. Call me and maybe I can give you some helpful info :) 706-8731

A good sight for recipes is Allergen.com you just put in what you can't have in it and it will search through recipes for you. Emme drank Similac Allimentum when she was under one.

Poor little thing. She looks about as cute as you can look with welts on your back. Dustan's wife Jenessa has a sister that can't eat any dairy. I am sure they have a bunch of tips. We loved seeing you at the wedding. Hopefully we will be back on the west side soon. It stinks being so far away. We miss you guys.

Poor thing. I can't imagine being allergic to food. I never had that problem. I am really allergic to plants though. When I was in elementary school they did the prick test on my back with close to 50 different serums. I was so miserable. Not only was the pricking not fun, but the itchiness afterwards just about drove me crazy. They gave me a steroid cream and good antihistamines, but it still itched like mad. I hope her allergies do diminish over time. Can you imagine not being able to eat regular cheese or yogurt?
